Adult and Pediatric Neuropsychological Evaluation
Neuropsychological evaluations are requested as part of a comprehensive medical evaluation to assess whether different areas and systems of the brain are functioning properly, or whether deficits are present that are part of neurological disorders.
Testing is usually recommended when the symptoms or complaints involve memory or thinking. This may be signaled by a change in concentration, organization, reasoning, memory, language, perception, coordination, or personality.
Neuropsychological evaluations are helpful in differential diagnoses of disorders involving a number of medical, neurological, psychological, or genetic causes. Neuropsychological testing is frequently part of the evaluation of problems such as:
Forensic or Legal Evaluations
Professionals at APG have experience and training in providing objective and thorough evaluations to the courts or on behalf of attorneys. We utilize techniques and instruments that are accurate, reliable, and defensible in court to address the specific issues of concern for particular cases. We strive to provide reports in a timely manner that are clear, relevant, and do not go beyond the evidence that serve as the basis for our conclusions. Our services include evaluations for:
Evaluation for Medical Conditions
Recognizing that the mind and body are intricately related and each contributes to our physical, mental, and overall well being, APG provides specific evaluations for medical conditions to assess the psychological contribution to an individual's physical state. Our services include evaluations for:
Adult and Pediatric Psychological Evaluation
Psychological evaluations are often needed to assess disorders of behavior, mood and personality.
When concerns arise regarding an individual's behavior, depression, mood swings, anxiety, or the effects of traumatic events or difficult circumstances, an evaluation is useful to determine the most accurate diagnosis and outline a clear plan for treatment and intervention.
Evaluations are based upon psychological tests that are scientifically designed to be accurate and reliable in assessing the complex and unique characteristics that exist in each person. Typical problems or disorders assessed using psychological testing include:
ADHD Evaluations
Evaluation for child and adult Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is one of the most common referrals made to our clinic. While the diagnosis of ADHD can be made by collecting ratings of symptoms from parents and teachers, this method can often be inaccurate, and does not identify the other neurological and emotional conditions that often appear to be ADHD. It is important that a diagnosis of ADHD be accurate, to make sure that treatment efforts are effective and to avoid missing other problems that affect the child's functioning.
APG conducts a thorough and accurate assessment of children who may suffer from ADHD, including formal testing of various forms of attention, memory, and other cognitive skills. We assess for other conditions that are commonly associated with ADHD, such as learning and cognitive disorders, oppositional behavior, mood disorder, and personality styles. We have the capacity to evaluate for ADHD in toddlers, preschoolers, and older children.
When adults are referred for ADHD, we carefully evaluate early history and current symptoms of the disorder, and then administer formal tests to assess the unique form of ADHD that persists into adulthood.
Developmental Evaluations
Children under the age of four often display delays in specific skills that become concerns for their parents. Developmental delays often require specific assessment procedures to make accurate diagnoses and identify the best treatment approaches. APG of Texoma has specially trained professionals with experience in assessing delays such as:
